Sponsorship Declaration

A Sponsorship Declaration is a permit requested by a Maldivian or a professional category visa holder to bring a foreign national into the Maldives for purposes such as visiting, dependency, or other approved reasons. It indicates that the sponsor is responsible for the sponsored person’s stay in the country.

Documents Required

1. Completed Application Form (IM21)
   Company seal on the form (if the sponsor is a company or employer)
2. Passport copy (biodata page of the sponsored person)
3. ID card copy (if the sponsor is a Maldivian)
4. Work Permit Card (both sides) or Employment Approval (EA) copy of the sponsor
5. Relationship proof document
   Documents proving the relationship with the sponsored person
6. Additional documents (if applicable)

How to Apply

1. Visit imuga.immigration.gov.mv
2. Select ‘Visa’
3. Sign in to the IMUGA portal
4. Click ‘Apply for a Visa’
5. Confirm whether you are currently in the Maldives by completing the prerequisite field. Please note that the sponsorship option will not be available if the applicant is currently in the Maldives.
6. Select visa type: ‘Sponsorship’ and select reason or subtype
7. Fill in the next application details
8. Attach required documents
9. Review and submit the application

Important Notes:

1. Once approved, the pre-arrival sponsorship approval slip can be viewed from the IMUGA portal.
2. The sponsored person must arrive in the Maldives within 30 days of approval.
3. The correct intended length of stay, estimated arrival date and purpose of stay must be provided, especially if planning to apply for an extension.
4. It is only advised to purchase tickets once the sponsorship is approved.
